There's no need to discuss how crystal clear Blue-ray is, if you don't know that by now, visit a local Best Buy or electronic shop and get a preview. Quantum of Solace is Craig's follow up to Casino Royale. Again, this movie is action packed from the first scene to the last. Blue-ray enhances the experience, just making you glued to your TV screen for the whole 120-minutes, simply staring at the water in the background or the pebbles on the floor. If you have surround sound it makes the experience breathe taking and exciting. I would say the movie was good, but not great like the first one (Casino Royale). Everyone will have their opinions, but frankly a lot was missing for me to give it a 'great' or rather 'excellent' status. Nonetheless, for me it's still the second best bond in the last several -- more action, less unrealistic gadgets and more real like gadgets, more plot, and more excitement throughout the movie. Not too sure about the Bond girl for this one... Anyway, you may want to shell out the extra money to get it in Blue-ray (provided you have the player & Hi-def TV) because being a Sony Pictures Film, Bond was made for Blu-ray!Read full review
While I loved Casino Royale this film wasn't as good. Entertaining, very new and fresh approach- as I've never seen a Bond film pick up where it left off in a previous film. The action was good, the acting great and the story...okay. Different, but it was a little flat. Maybe because the running time was so short. Casino was well over 2 hours and this one was barely over an hour and a half. Not much wiggle room time wise. The cast was great though. I would recommend this, even though I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it after it ended. I thought, before I went to see it, that I'd want to see it again. Not so much. It was nice because it filled in the blanks that Casino left, the whole Vesper--boyfriend being abducted...then she allows herself to drown. The freaky dude, Mr. White. Left me scratching my head at the end of that flick. This answered those issues and vindicated Vesper and what Bond had with her. Anyway, it was good. Nothing overly special or spectaculaRead full review
I was amazed at the immediate, super fast action. A lot was devoted to pushing this viewers ability to KEEP UP. I will watch it again because, I'm sure I missed some of it focusing on HOW DID HE/THEY DO THAT!! I wish "his" character was less high strung. Everyone has a chill-out moment and THAT is used to build character. He is a great actor with an ironic sense of comedy as well. Should develop that! Very much worth watching and a bit too much STEROID driven action. Andy in Maine
This is the first Bond movie that could, reasonably, be called a sequel. As such, it is an excellent piece of work. Daniel Craig is the best 007 since Sean Connery (maybe better?). In Quantum of Solace, he takes up where he left off, battling over-whelming odds, moving from point A to point B, doing the job, trying not to let emotions (or his surperiors) get in the way. Like Casino Royal, the action is pretty much non-stop, with a pause here and there for the audience to catch it's collective breath. The Bond women are always beautiful; no exception here. The villans are smart enough to make good adversaries, and slimey enough that you won't care what happens to them in the end. And all the loose ends are tied up nicely. Casino Royal is (in my opinion) the best Bod film made. Quantum of Solace is a close second. It will be hard to keep up this pace, physically for the 41 year old Craig, and quality-wise for the writers. Perhaps that is why the next installment isn't due out until November 2011. The filming was spectacular, but the editing was especially notable. Seamless. Rated PG-13, the body count was what you'd expect from a Bond film, but the violence wasn't in-your-face... and it wasn't gratuitus. The Bond team will be hard pressed to come up with anything as good or better than the latest two Bond films; I will be hard pressed to wait 20 months to see it.Read full review
When I saw Casino Royale I simply believed that just like Goldeneye they would ruin a good movie by horrible and whimsical sequels with a new bond. Daniel Craig is by far the 2nd best bond; only surpassed by the original Sean Connery. But, just like batman got its revamp and traced back to its origins to help us forget Tim Burton's Batmans, The Bond series has taken us back to the beginning before the suave nature and expertise has set in and has let us see a fiesty, determined and 'loose canon' sort of version of Bond that we can watch develope. The second part of this new Bond series 'Quantum of Solace'...despite its far reaching name that reminds me of some old Imax film title, is an impressive movie with an amazing and reasonable story with great action, great cinematography, and all the while the movie still holds true to the original Bond that made the series so iconic around the world. For any Bond fan or simply someone just wanting to see a good movie that isnt boring watch this movie or buy it for not too much more.Read full review
