This volume contains a lot of information, some of it very good. But sometimes, it can be a bit of a work to dig out the information you want in between war stories, etc. You'll spend a lot of time flipping between the photograph that shows the technique and the back of the book where it lays out the lighting system. The thrust of the book is using Nikon's and Canon's creative lighting systems with their flagship flashes, so ideally, you'll have or get a few Nikon SB-900s or the Canon equivalent. You can learn about lighting and using other flashes, but that isn't what this book is about. If you spend the time, there is a lot of good information in here. I'm not sorry I bought it, it's teaching me a lot.
