The nib is nice. It's only extra fine for a German pen - it's more like a fine in my experience. It's certainly not "too fine." I note that this nib is also softer than some of the other pens that I have been using recently - the Sailor Pro Gear Fine nib, for instance, has a very hard nib. The Lamy requires just a little bit of (delightful) effort to make it dance. I like the barrel material well enough, and I like that the cap pops on and off rather than unscrewing. Obviously a quality writing instrument and one that I will enjoy getting to know.

Great fountain pen provides user with continuous writing pleasure, Smooth extra-fine nib gets comfortable silky touch on the paper.

Though I ordered a fine. I believe I was sent a medium or broad. I have several Lamy’s in Fine and EF, but this isn’t a fine. It’s not because of the gold nib. My dialog is also a fine.
