    The Straight Scoop

In my opinion the H107D is made to serve one primary purpose...to introduce and provide an inexpensive way to learn FPV (first person view) drone piloting. Although it has FPV video feed, don't expect the feed, recorded or otherwise to come near the quality of a dedicated camera drone...it's sharp and clear enough for beginning FPV, but not much more. The machine flies very well, is responsive to control input, and is actually quite fast and nimble...again well-suited as an FPV starter. It's very durable, but for the same reasons that make it durable it can also be a pain. For example, instead of the props breaking, they tend to simply come off, even if using the included prop guard...you hit the deck hard and you'll be sticking props back on...beats replacing them though! Instead of the legs breaking, the bottom part separates from the top part. Not a big deal, but it means in order to resume flight, one must first snap the pieces back together. It binds and calibrates easily and consistently to the transmitter/controller. Typical flight time with stock battery is about eight minutes. Typical AA battery life for the transmitter is about three flights. The FPV on-board camera is at a poor angle for fast forward flight (angled too low). The antenna is positioned horizontally which adds durability, but greatly decreases the range possible. The angle of view from the on-board camera is too narrow to achieve a truly immersive FPV experience. Easy mods that fix the above negative aspects- Add a cellphone "jelly" wide-angle lens to the on-board camera lens to provide a wider field of view. Pull the AA battery holder from the transmitter and replace the connection with a lipo that will fit in it's place to greatly improve TX operating time. The antenna can be easily re-positioned to a vertical stance and that alone will nearly double the range. Every conceivable mod for this unit can be found on YouTube. I think that the H107D is a good value, well designed and well built. Replacement parts are cheap...new body=$5.00, 20 props=$2.00, new motors, set of 4=$10.00. For those interested in FPV racing your options boil down to either starting with an all-inclusive unit like the H107D, or jumping right into a more serious $300.00 quadcopter (not including Tx, batts, charger, FPV goggles or monitor, etc.) and blowing probably an additional $100.00 or more on parts and repairs before you even learn to fly the thing. Clear skies!

Too small and jumpy for real fpv flying

Hubsan 107 quads are a lot of fun to zip around with in the yard. I found the 107D to be very heavy, and not really a good fpv flyer. For one thing, there is no altitude hold on this model, so if trying to fly fpv, you are constantly fighting keeping it at a level altitude. This is magnified by the heavy weight of the model relative to it's size and lift. Hubsan also has a tendency to fight small yaw inputs...you try and yaw slightly right, and it corrects itself back to the original trajectory. Thirdly, on any of these built in low power fpv transmitters, range is not good and interference is abundant. If you buy one of these, I would highly suggest buying the newer model with altitude hold, I would also suggest buying a set of high current (2400 mah or higher) rechargeable cells for the transmitter, as built in receiver / monitor for the fpv sucks battery life. Either buy the rechargeable batteries or buy some stock in a battery manufacturer of your choice.

  • Fast and Fun.

Small, fast and fun. If you are trying to work on your FPV skills, this is great. If you are just looking for a small quad, skip the camera option or transmitter with display (eats batteries).

  • Nice Drone with FPV

This drone is easy to fly. The propeller guards are great and prevent damage and promote safety. Wish the batteries would last longer. The price and service was good.

  • best intro level fpv quadcopter

If your looking to get started in the drone game and want the best drone you can get for your money look no further! This thing is amazing out of the box, and is great for pilots of all skill levels. I've never regretted getting mine

  • Nice, well built but.....

This drone is just too slow and to be honest, it's too heavy for the small battery power it was designed to use. It's a nice drone though. It flies good, very sluggish though. I just ordered some racestar motors, I'll see how it goes with the upgrade. .

  • Bad picture

The picture of the product makes it appear that it's bigger than it really is, therefore the product's size is misrepresented. It is a mini drone 2,3 inches and not 5,6 inches it looks like in the picture. So I sent it back...

  • This wasn't new? I couldn't tell the difference.

This is my next move up from the 107C. I like that all the spare parts, including batteries and controller, props and guards, I have for the 107C also work on the 107D. Helps keep the cost down while I'm still in practice mode.

  • Small item but fun

I love this little thing. It takes some time to get used to the control but it's even fun trying to learn. Thank you very much.

  • Low quality

The materials are of very low quality is not real his specifications loses the visual signal to 30m and the radio control to 40. This drone loses signal and falls breaks as the plastic is very low quality. I do not recommend it. Thank you
