It works. Not "Instant"
Takes the temperature. I had to calibrate mine as described on the package. When I put it into the ice slurry, it registered about 42 F. So it was 10 degrees off to start with. Easy to adjust using the holder. I keep it in the holder in the package in my drawer to keep it easy to find. It is not "instant read" I would say put it into the food and let it sit for at least 1 minute to get a reading. Take food out of oven before using. not an "INSTANT" read
The package and the description use the word "INSTANT". To me, the word instant means immediate. It is not an "instant" read thermometer. You insert it into the meat, or whatever you're checking, and then you must wait until the hand (like a hand on a clock) reaches the temperature of the meat. I guess you need a digital type thermometer to get an "INSTANT" read. I checked no for value and quality since the package label is misleading to me. If I had known what I was buying, it probably would be a good value and I can't really speak to the quality. Not the color presented however it's a great little thermometer
It's a functional little tool. It feels sturdy, reliable, it's got this hexagonal wrench to calibrate with. The only reason it didn't get five stars is because I didn't get the color that was being advertised as blue. I got a maroon color instead. Don't ruin that expensive steak

Dial is way to small for average eyes.
