We have found the remote trainer to be an great asset in training one of our dogs. The only reason we considered using it is because our dog is a danger to herself at times. When she gets too excited she will chase her tail to the point of over heating and causing a heatstroke. We initially shocked her on the lowest setting. Then we found by using the buzzer as a warning she will stop before going into the exhausting tail spin. It has actually been a life saver for her.

But I would not buy this product again. The collar works as directed with many correction levels and an audible sound. If the caller is left on for more than 1 hour it turns off. Therefore making any correction of behavior by the use the collar useless. As an example you have a sneaky dog that likes to get on the back porch and take all the tennis shoes off and pull them into the yard. You can try to teach your animal not to get on the porch during the training session. But one hour later he sneaks up on the porch and you try to correct him as you see him getting onto the porch and the collar has automatically turned off. Now you see my dilemma you have to turn the collar back on in order to correct him but by now your animal doesn't know why he's being corrected. Hope this helps in your decision-making purchase.Read full review

Even tho the instructions say not to use it on a dog who has a anger problem I did, our dog has responded in a positive way. This coller worked for us. We have it set at high 4, it doesn't hurt our dog but it does stop his current anger event, just beeping him now is all he needs because he knows what's next. We have even gone several days of not needing to even put the coller on him. Good luck with your pet.

Try the jolt yourself before using it on your dog. Level 1 is quite a jolt. Levels go up to 8. Can't imagine ever needing an 8 for a small dog. For the sound feature I used an 8.

We have a very stubborn nine-month-old Standard Poodle. We do have a large yard, but there are no boundary fences between the properties. Our dog would continually go next door as the owners would eat outside and she would look for scraps. When they were outside, they would often call her over to pet her. Thus, she took this as permission to explore every other propertie's yard. She would just run off at the drop of a hat, and it would take us a long time to round her up and get her to return. We were originally going to install a wireless system, but the good ones are very expensive. So we thought we would give this trainer a try. The results were spectacular! While she did not respond to the sound that well to start with, we persevered with it. Then we would give her a shock (we tried it ourselves first, and it more like a TENS feeling than a true shock). Once we found the level that made her notice, we would play the tone fist and then follow it with the shock if she did not obey. She still had her moments, but she soon learned that if she heard that tone, that she had better return where she came from. We also told our neighbors about what we were doing, and asked them to ignore her. It was as important to train the neighbors as it was to train our puppy! We have had the system for about three weeks, and the change in her is dramatic. For some unknown reason, our dog loves to wear collars. When I tell her we are going outside, she jumps up on a chair by our back door, waiting for me to put on the shock collar! Once outside, I can see her thinking about where she is as she walks around the yard rather than just run or go next door, so this has really helped us to help her know her boundaries. Now, it is not perfect. If she sees a bird or especially a squirrel, her canine instincts kick in and she is off to the races. But the collar does break her concentration for long enough for her to hear us, and slowly return to her normal location. Batteries can be an issue, especially if you forget to turn the collar off once you take it off your dog. But apart from that, this is an excellent device that has really allowed us to better control our youngster! In the picture attached, my wife is working with her, and you can just see the collar under her chin.Read full review
