Being the gba version of the very first game to the series, most of it’s sprites are taken from the pc version, but unfortunately, unlike the pc and ps1, Harry can’t jump and he will fall if he runs into a hole, which makes the game frustrating too, nor does he get the invisibility cloak in this version, so like the chamber of secrets, there is a lot of stealth sequences in it, and saving only happens when touching a floating book, the same treatment is shared in the ps1 and gba version of the chamber of secrets, as well as the pc, but the pc doesn’t require you to decide which file to save as it only saves the file you decided from the main menu. Harry only learns his spells in this game with a teacher next to him by copying their previous wand movements, which is also done only once in the gbc during the charms class to learn wigardium Leviosa. I didn’t like the final battle against quirrell, as this is the only version where Harry doesn’t get the stone, because the mirror of erised is located under the place where the battle starts. But I also like the part of the forbidden forest because casting wingardium Leviosa on the trolls can force them to hit themselves with their club, but unfortunately wingardium Leviosa is not learned before the canon troll scene, so Harry has to use Flipendo to push the troll into a pit to the dungeons, after each club swing. It’s particularly fun, but frustrating due to all the stealth and holes, but it gets quite easy to understand, and I would suggest others to write the spell lessons wand movements when doing them if they can’t remember after seeing them, to succeed perfectly as it’s also possible to loose the house cup here.Read full review

I used to play this when I was a kid about 11 and I love it!!! Then as I was about to beat the game my brother begged me if he could take it to a friends house then lost it. I was devastated. 10 years later while I was browsing through the gameboy advance section of our beloved ebay, my heart skipped a beat when my eyes laid on my long forgotten best friend Harry Potter. And a couple of days later, I ripped open that package like a six year old. It was just as I remembered it!! It is true to the book, or rather the movies rendition of the book, extremely fun and great for bookworms like me. I can't say enough how awesome this game is!! Childhood fulfilled!!
Came faster than I was expecting(Pause). Great quality games though, would recommend

The kids enjoy playing it, but they are a little young @ 6 & 4. In the newer Harry Potter games, I can play it and gain extra power so it is easy for them to play, but you cant in this one. Also, if you fall down a hole, you have to start your task completly over, but are not given your lives back which makes it even more difficult for the young kids. Over all, it is an extremely enjoyable game and good for kids 6 and up.
