This SAS was priced well enough that I could make it a project guitar. The wraparound bridge makes intonation and action adjustment a little more difficult. I changed the wing tuners to phase ii locking tuners. I will be installing an earvanna nut and and adjustable wraparound. The McCarty pickups which are lifeless and the 3 way switch are both coming out for a set of TV Jones Classics and a 6 way switch from Stew Mac. I temporarily installed a Phat Cat I had lying around in the bridge and already the guitar has come to life. The guitar plays beautifully, so when I'm done I will have the sound options I want at a price similar to an average priced used SAS. It's an outstanding platform for my project! I love the guitar and will just love it more when it's finished.

I own a Hollow Body II, a Custom 22, a new Studio, and 2 Swamp Ash Specials. First of all, they all are better than my Strats, my Les Pauls, and even my Music Master JP6. The reason is NUANCE. This Swamp Ash, with its two split- coil humbuckers and a single rail in the middle, has the ability to find the right PU combination for any of my pedal and amp setups. I love the edgy split humbuckers combined with the single rail for my hard-edged rhythms. Without changing my volume, a simple switch to my bridge humbucker puts me right into snarling Les Paul Lead mode. The wide fat neck is razor straight and the action can be lower than any guitar I've ever owned with no buzz and tons of acoustic sustain. This guitar is the bomb!
Gloriously green, can sound mean or clean. The action is keen, it really makes the scene. Try it, buy it, but don't be quiet.
If I had the cash I'd pay this awesome price without question. This is my dream guitar. Good luck selling it. It's worth $5k to me.
