-This game has solid mechanics, though you may find yourself in more of a paper rock scissor match from time to time. This is mainly for the fact that you will learn when you use a low, mid, or high attack. -The concept is simple, and game is quick to learn, one joystick for controls, and 4 buttons. It will surprise you how complex moves can become with experience from such straight forward controls. -Lots of characters, lots of great characters and models to go with it. Good backgrounds, nice visuals, good animations, except sometimes you may be able to land an upper cut to someone who is on the ground and cause them to do a backflip since you hit them so hard.. other then that solid animations. -High replay value, which is a good thing since arcade mode is short as ever :). -Looking for a game to piss you off? This game can do it when you battle online, this is the downside to online play, as a recreational gamer, you are alone in that attitude. There are very few people who still play this game online, and they are not so nice, and most are pro. So be ready for someone to keep you on the ground, and stomp your skull over and over never letting you get up, and then tell you how bad you suck. If you can handle that, you may enjoy it online.... I just like the local multiplayer.. Ultra Hard CPU players, and local friends is the way to be. Worst community ever... except UFC 2009, and Fight Night Round 3. So I take that back, third worst community ever. Its a great game. For the price it can be had now in 2011, if you haven't tried it, and your a fan of the genre, nothing should hold you back, unless you want a lively online community to play the game in. That is harder to find. Pros: If you have played a Tekken game in the past, you know what to expect. This is the first installment on the next gen consoles, so expect the obligatory graphics upgrade, new characters and more refined balancing. Cons: The load times. If you got the HD space, I recommend doing a full install. Also, despite being a next gen system, the graphics aren't as big of a jump from Tekken 5 that I would expect. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the campaign mode. Final Thoughts: If you are a fan of the Tekken series, this deserves to be in your collection. New comers will enjoy this game as well. Surprisingly, button mashers can sometimes hold their own against vets. Easy to pick up with a lot of depth underneath.
Tekken 6 is a great virtual fighter, just like its predeccessors, but it doesn't have that same charm to it. The graphics are great and the characters are still fresh and hilarious, but it just doesn't feel quite like a Tekken game. That's mainly because of its lack of constant fun, and the fact that it is disappointing. For instance, the scenario campaign is a fun little diversion, but it has an unpredictable difficulty and just-plain-odd storyline, unlike previous Tekken games. The multiplayer still rocks though, and so does the arcade mode. Online is patchy, but nonetheless fun. Overall, I think Tekken 6 is a very good installment to the series and does good to the genre, but I can't help wishing it didn't change so quickly.
they sent us tekken 5. i'm not complaining because i love both games, but it was the wrong product so i can't give it a 5 star rating. great game and well worth the money even if it was wrong. arrived on time with no damage.

If you are a fan of the Tekken series, you will not be disappointed. This new release feels true to the Tekken line up and has 40 characters to fight with. The options for customization of your characters is a nice addition. There are a lot of options for offline and online game play, and gives this game high re-playability. The only complaint I can give is that the graphics are not up to par with what I expect out of newly released games. I play Tekken on a HD 1080p LCD television, and the graphic quality is not comparable to other games I am playing.
Tekken 6 managed to improve graphics, add new characters, add online multi-player, do a host of other things all while retaining that classic feel that Tekken fans have grown accustomed to. The game-play is great and you will easily slide right into the control setups and quickly pick up one of the sweet new character or your old favorites. Only a couple of characters got dropped, but some serious new challengers have been added. Play some online and you will soon realize that although the characters are better matched than in any other fighting genre title, you will find Bob, Alisa, Dragunov, and others tough opponents! I didn't play the story mode very much, because I tend to find single-player games boring, so I mainly spent my time doing ranked battles online or hosting my own game and inviting some friends (up to 4 players may join a public or private room for 1 on 1 battles. My only complaints: -It is still possible for very advanced players to pull off crazy string combos and juggle you into a wall where you cannot get up. It isn't terribly common that someone will successfully pull this off, but when you do run into one of those players, it is a real downer for the game. -No option for 2-on-2 or even 1-on-1 tag team battles (lame!) with all the work they put into this game, integrating Tekken Tag features with Tekken 6 for XBOX Live online play would have been an easy add-on, and would have been AWESOME for the players. Oh Well. -WoodyRead full review
When you hear of a new installment of a series you expect the story to come together, explode with furry and renew the love you felt for years waiting to be reunited with the old crew for earlier parts of the series. Tekken 6 did bring back all of the old faces and added several new ones but missed something very important; THE STORY!!! You can find keys to the story but unlike the last two Tekken games the story DOES NOT come with regular arcade mode. (WHAT!!!) You now have to play Tekken's un-improved "beat `em up" game, WHICH IS AWFUL! The controls are terrible the camera makes it worst and the graphics make you wonder if Namco was even ready to bring this game out. The arcade mode is fine (actually great) like any other Tekken the new characters add new challenges and variety but you can't learn their story until you still down for pointless hours playing through the "beat `em Quest thingy-thingy". It disappointed and I got rid of the game (sold it) and got their competitor Capcom's Street Fighter IV and had my fighting game fix handled. I loved the Tekken series but the 6th game dropped the ball........I'll just bring a handful of quarters with me to work and stop by the arcade on the way to lunch instead.Read full review
Fighting game fans have had quite a few things to be happy about this year. Street Fighter IV, Soulcalibur IV and BlazBlue all found their way to consoles these past several months and each game was very well received. If those fantastic fighters weren't enough for you -- or they just didn't float your boat -- a little game called Tekken 6 might be what you were waiting for. Following in a long line of arcade fighters, Tekken 6 continues the one-on-one, 3D tradition with the franchise's biggest roster yet, and some nice gameplay refinements. Tournament-level players won't have much to learn, mechanics wise, from this article besides the fact that this is a great game and it works well on consoles. For Tekken newcomers, however, I'll tell you that Tekken 6 -- like its predecessors -- combines a pick-up-and-play mentality with the potential for seriously in-depth strategies and mind games. While Tekken is not for everybody, Tekken 6 should appeal to a fairly wide variety of fighting game fans. Although the Campaign Scenario story mode might seem like the primary mode in Tekken 6, it's no more than a simple distraction from the real fighting at hand. What's most important here is the offline modes and online multiplayer, which all use the standard Tekken fighting engine in one way or another. If you're planning on playing Tekken 6 on your own, you'll be able to enjoy the Arcade, Ghost Battles, Time Trial, Survival and Practice modes. The only things here that might be unfamiliar to fighting game fans are the Ghost Battles. This mode is actually one of my favorite elements in the single-player equation, as you're pitted against a steady stream of new AI opponents, or ghosts, that possess different ranks. At the end of the battle, you can use the D-pad to select your next opponent out of a list of three, or you can opt to end the Ghost Battle session. This mode is made even more palatable thanks to the monetary reward you receive after every victory. You'll be earning some sweet coin for almost everything you do in Tekken 6. The primary use of money is to purchase extra customization items for every character on the roster. For example, earn enough cash and you can buy a sweet new jacket for your favorite fighter. Or perhaps you'll pay more than 1.5 million dollars on a ponytail haircut for Lili (I'm guilty of that one). Being able to constantly earn money for unlocking costumes is a great way to reward players that keep coming back for more. Character customization is no fun if there isn't some rewarding gameplay to back it up. Fortunately, Tekken 6 has some extremely enjoyable gameplay to sink your teeth into. Once again, there are really only four buttons you need to worry about: one assigned to each limb of your character. With two punches, two kicks and then basic movement, almost anyone can pick up a controller and start mashing away to execute some basic attacks. However, there's a surprisingly deep system underneath the simple interface. Once you begin to study parries, counters, ukemis (falling and/or getting up from being knocked down) juggles, wall hits and more, you'll soon see that Tekken 6 is hardly a button-masher. One of the first gameplay elements that might tip off a new player to the underlying depth of Tekken 6 is his ability to block from a neutral position. Players do not have to hold "back" on the D-pad in order to block in Tekken, which means you won't have to perpetually move backwards if you're tryingRead full review
