Very small portion has Johnny Carson. Mostly commercials and Milton Berle. Disappointed 😞

I don't mind the "not great" picture quality .... but sorry to say the comedy element leaves me quite disappointed. Johnny's better years are still to come, that's for sure. The other comedians included with this set are equally boring, despite being "famous". As a historical document this DVD set is fine, but to make you really laugh (not just briefly smile), the humor herein leaves a lot to be desired.
good shows

I'm old school - and I wanted some of Johnny's shows fron the old days. Nobody compares to Johnny anymore! Be sure and check the list of guests and shows - something I didn't do, and wish now I had. I didn''t get shows from the era I was hoping for, but that's no one's fault but my own. Still funny shows, and worth watching......
From the name, obviously expected this to be primarily Johnny Carson material. It is not. Contains lots of Jack Benny, Milton Berle, and others. Bought it for my Mom, and she does enjoy it - especially the Jack Benny and Johnny Carson pieces. There are many hours of entertainment here, so it probably has appeal for comedy/variety show lovers of early television.
I bought this item for one reason. Johnny Carson. I guess I should've looked a bit more into it, because I didn't really notice the 'and friends' part. That was a bit disappointing, but that was my mistake. Overall it turned out to be a very good DVD set, despite the fact that Johnny was only 1/4 of it. Heck, good ol' fashioned clean comedy is hard to find these days so it was definitely worth the inexpensive price. I'm pretty happy with the purchase.
This set of 4 DVDs is unique in that it is not all "Tonight" shows. It shows the growth of Carson as an emcee, and his interaction with other stars. I never got to see him on "Who Do You Trust", so those shows were a real treat. This DVD also has portions of the Colgate Comedy Hour and the Milton Berle Show. Fun for the tv viewer who saw these in their childhood!
Good stuff, fair price, prompt shipping, positive experience.
