I know Smittybilt's reputation for material quality in their offroad parts, but judging the value of this tent and based on the reviews, I opted to buy it. I was pleasantly surprised at the canvas it is made from. It is pretty heavy, but still very supple/flexible. The aluminum support poles are around 3/4", not 1" as the more expensive brands advertise. The second night spent in the tent, we had a fair amount of rain. The vestibule over the entrance was not pulled taught, and collected some water. This extra weight caved the vestibule support pole right in the middle. In the morning i bent it straight again, and will make sure to keep the rain fly tight in the future. Otherwise, the tent has held up great so far. No leaks or issues. The mattress pad is pretty hard, akin to a thin crash pad for bouldering. Even a 2" memory foam topper helped marginally. They should really just lower the price and make this pad an accessory option like the awning compartment. In all, I'd still buy again. For the craftsmanship and materials used, this tent is by far one of the best values on the market.Read full review

I decided to purchase this tent after reading several reviews and I’m happy I did. The quality and function are great and it’s easier to lift on to the vehicle than I anticipated. I have it mounted to the stock crossbars on an FJ cruiser, using all four cross bars (2 front 2 rear with small spacers to account for the angle of the oem rack). It sleeps our family of 4 with room to spare. It was missing two small poles that hold up the material on an outside window. I called Smittybilt and told them what was missing and it was quickly shipped without a problem. I was very impressed with the customer service of Smittybilt.

The tent came promptly and was as expected.. I had to broken buckles that were damaged, I guess during shipping. There is an 800# to call, which I will very soon. Overall it was package with just the right amount of padding and foam. It is of high quality but the install instructions are very limited. The installation is logical if you take the time to do it correctly. The mattress is minimal but effective, but could use an extra inch at minimum. I have to anchor the later to the truck in order to keep the stability of the fold out. it is a great product but there is always room for improvement.

Great roomy tent, can be set up and taken down in 10 minutes. Very comfortable king size mattress is like sleeping at home. Stays dry even without the rain fly. And the sky lights are amazing. Just ordered the annex for my dog and for putting gear on during ski season. Couldn’t be happier

Have it mounted to a bed rack on a Toyota Tacoma short bed and yes it does stick out a bit but not enough to care. Easy set up and easy to put down. Quality is there and the space is by far the biggest I’ve seen in roof top tents.
