Nothing more accurate for trigger pull weight

This is an easy to use and accurate digital scale for measuring trigger pull. Much better than the standard mechanical, "fish scale" type. Very easy to use and gives a nice repeatable measure. Naturally, because of the mechanical nature of the triggers themselves, the break is not going to be exactly the same each time, but it should be within a half pound at each pull. The meter will measure those differences and average. That said, the $55 - $75 that everyone wants to charge for these things is not a great bargain. That is why you'll find them being sold slightly used a lot of times. After you've used it for the firearms that you have you might want to get some money back for it. Also, the 12 lb. max range makes it useless for other applications - like fishing. :) Unless you are a pro or a shop owner you really need to have patience and wait for a used one to get a deal on.

  • Top critical review

Good to get the actual value of your trigger pull weight ( grams or ounces) in single action....

A bit difficult to block the probe in position the first time I used it for fear of breaking something.. The measurements must be done several times to get an average value. Completely different from the usual weight used by the referees in competition where it is go or no-go....

  • Lyman Digital Trigger Pull Gauge

Overall I rate this product as good. The quality level is good but definitely not 5 star. When mine arrived the battery wires were disconnected from the PCB and it was not easy to push the connector back into it's slot. The case is nice but cheaply made and the velcro straps are barely long enough to attach the gauge. The battery compartment is so tight you have to be careful have the battery wires above the battery to avoid being cut by the battery compartment case. The maximum pull weight is only 12 pounds which is not adequate to measure double action pulls of many guns. For single action pulls though it appears to measure very accurately. When measuring a trigger pull it is imperative to increase the pressure very slowly to avoid a high false reading from hitting the trigger stop with more force than required to trip the trigger. It is also critical to pull the gauge exactly parallel with the bore of the gun or you will get a higher reading than the actual trigger pull. Of course these are issues with any trigger pull gauge. It's worth the $50 but I wouldn't want to pay more for this gauge.

  • Lyman does trigger gauge right!!

I’ve had a manual trigger gauge for several years and I finally got around to getting the digital type. This thing is boss, it is so much easier to use and more accurate.. Should have got one along time ago. It will give you the average with up to ten pulls. The battery goes into the back of the handle so when you’re pulling on it to check trigger weight be careful not to pull the battery door off. Not a big problem just something to be aware of.

  • A handy tool to have if you need to measure trigger pull weights.

A handy tool if you need to measure trigger pull weights. Some people have complained about the battery compartment lid, I see no problem with it. The battery compartment is snug for sure- difficult to seat the battery. Be sure and read the instructions, you have to hit the reset button twice before it'll measure. Seems accurate and consistent. If you want any better, you'd need to go to weights, and that's a lot more awkward to work with than this. Recommended!

  • Easy to use

Trigger gauge is easy to use and is a must have when working on trigger mechanism's on your pistols or long guns. Mine never had the audible beep you're supposed to hear when your are ready to take a reading but that's not a deal breaker for me. Mine works fine.

  • Better than the first model.

This unit is a newer updated model. They changed the arm...now it is self contained and slides in and out of unit, and after a lot of complaints, they went from a troublesome hard to install 9 volt battery to using 2 AAA easy to install batteries. Unit is accurate and works great. Much better storage case to. Love it.

  • Overall the best choice for measuring trigger pull

Works well for measuring trigger pull. First, make sure it is not loaded*. Just be sure to use it the same way every time. Horizontal direction is best and note the firearm should be secured for the best results. Be sure you place it on the trigger in the same place every time. I've used a lot of different ones, manual to electronic and think that this is the best choice, in my opinion. I would recommend this to a friend. *no ammo in the room, no loaded magazines. Period. Follow the firearm safety rules.

  • Lyman Electronic Digital Trigger Pull Gauge

Purchased this trigger gauge as a replacement for an identical Lyman gauge I bought years ago. Loved that old gauge, but after moving to Montana it disappeared. Being 100% pleased with that old Lyman...I immediately purchased another. I use it for tuning 2 stage triggers on my rifles...accurate, easy to use, and the averaging feature is amazing. Very pleased with this trigger gauge, and highly recommend it.
