A much better Fostex DV40 or 360Systems TCR8!
If any of you are thinking of an 8 track digital multi-track recorder this unit should be considered. This is the only unit of its kind that will not only record on DVD RAM but it had it's own built -in hard drive for back up and it can also play and (unlike the Fostex DV40- 4 track model) can record onto CD-R media. With an installed card It can me used with Fostex WAV editing software and connected to a computer using the Firewire, Ethernet and USB connectors (if the card is installed). It allows non linear edits and will respond to Timecode (and with a good "event synchronizer") can be synced to MIDI time code. It sounds great! The only thing that sounds better is the 360Systems TCR8! Which in my opinion is the "warmest" sounding digital recorder on the planet, hands down! So far I have heard nothing more pleasant and tube-like than that! I highly recommend this unit for any professional looking to move from a tape environment like the highly sought after Tascam DA-78HR, or 98HR s. Great unit! FYI- These units can be powered with standard 4 pin12V A.V. 5Amp adapter.
