Spyderco comes through once again
The Amalgam is one of Spydercos quirky and very well thought out knives. It takes a while to get the hang of the flipper tab/compression lock combo but after a few days of opening and closing it, I realize that it's one of the fastest and most useful knives in my collection. I think it's made to scare away the impatient knife people. LOL! The fit and finish is top-notch. Not a single thing out of place. No gaps, light in weight, no hot spots, sharp and aligned right out of the box and easy to to carry in your pocket despite its rather long size. My recommendation is that you don't give up on it until you are sure that you can't get used to that flipper tab/compression lock combination. Even then, it's a knife that every pocket knife collector should have just because it's a lot different than other knives out there.
