Great little inverter machine for the price

So far I've run 3/32" 6011, 3/32" 7018 and 1/8 7018 on this without any issues. The 1/8" 7018 was used with some 1/4" plate and 1/4" wall tube at 130 amps. That ran very smoothly. Restrikes with 7018 were very easy, most of the time I didn't even need to knock the flux off the electrode tip to restrike. When using a new electrode, I did have issues with the rod sticking on first strike. I found that if I held the electrode a few inches up with the other gloved hand until the arc was going, I didn't have that issue. They didn't seem to stick on restrikes. By the way, this is not a machine issue at all, this can happen with any machine. I've seen the inside of this machine and it's actually pretty well built. Amazing how well it performs for the price.

For what it is, it's worth the money.

Cheap leads, cables aren't real copper. Work clamp wire inside isn't copper. Just painted copper. Had issues at first keeping a stable arc. Bought a tweco 300 amp work clamp and fixed that. 2 days later electrode holder fell apart in my hand. Bought a tweco one and works just like any other machine I've used. Good value in reality because I always buy new work clamps and stingers anyway I never like the ones that come with machines. My recommendation is buy this, and what I stated above, and perhaps real copper cables. You will get your money out of it.

  • EXCELLENT VALUE!

I am an Ironworker and certified welder by trade. I own a Brand Name DC dual voltage that I purchased for 5 times the price of this unit. I decided to take a chance on this unit so that I could have an extra / spare welder available. The unit does not include a case but is shipped well protected in it's box. I plugged the included adapter onto the power cord and plugged the unit into a standard 115 wall outlet. I assembled two pieces of 3/8 scrap plate and began welding them together with a 7018 3/32 rod. Based on the $149.00 price tag, I really did not expect too much performance. To my surprise, this unit welded as good as my name brand unit! I really like the digital readout! My name brand inverter welder does not have that! The included leads are of a good enough quality to use and make money right out of the box! I really do not expect to get the same service life as a high dollar unit but, I am very impressed with the Performance and Value of this unit! The clear flip cover is a plus! it is light but will protect the dial and led display from scrapes and scratches. If you use the proper sized rods, 3/32 NOT 1/8 for the 115 voltage, you will be pleased with this little welders performance! I am very pleased with this purchase !

  • Greater Welder for the Price

This is a great basic stick welder for the price. It works well off of both 110V and 220V. I have run 3/32 6013 (Lincoln) 1/8 6013 (Hobart) and 1/8 7018 (Lincoln) and they have all run just as well, disregarding it's lack of advanced functions like arc force, as on more expensive welders (Miller and Lincoln). The welder seems put together solidly, and I have experienced no issues over the last month of regular use (I have gone through ~10 lbs of rod). I haven't checked how true the amp output is, but I have been using the electrodes within the expected range. I also haven't pushed it to its full duty cycle, but unless you are continually laying down beads, I wouldn't expect any problems. Every once and a while you get some arc blow, but that happens with all DC machines. The supplied electrode holder works OK, but I prefer ones with a stronger spring. I recommend replacing the supplied ground clamp to one with full copper jaws, I did so and noticed better performance out of my machine. The cables are pretty good quality, and the DINSE connection seems very secure. I was impressed that the electrode holder connection comes with thin copper sheet wrapped around the wires to protect them from the set screw. I have been very impressed with this welder, and its size makes it very easy to transport. I recommend that you put your welder through its paces after you receive it (within the 30 day return window) just to be sure you didn't get a lemon, but the first and only welder I received worked perfectly right out of the box.

  • Powerful little box

Bought this to replace my ancient welder. The size difference alone is outstanding considering my old welder was the size of a Buick. The fact it is dual voltage is awesome and it has the quietest welding machine I have ever used. Guess the only real question is how long it will last but at the price I would definitely buy again

  • Nuclear plant certified welder

Retired 10 years ago but like to hobby weld. Got this yesterday and am very impressed. Ran some 6013 1/8" rod today 1/4" fillet weld. Set machine at 100 amps on a 120 volt 20 amp breaker. Awesome for the money. I will try some 7018 tomorrow and see how high the amps can go without tripping the breaker. My house electric runs at 131 bolts hich could increase the output. So far I love it.

  • Great compact stick welder

My first use of stick welder worked great. I welded two cracks where my steering box mounts to my truck frame about 1/8" thick metal stitched it right up great little welder. Will be welding some spring perches next on my rear axle and Im confident that this little welder will do a great job.

  • Excellent little machine!

Used around shop and it didn't stop once. I used 3/32 7014 sticks and it welded well. Not so well with 6011. I need to buy different rod sizes and run them to find out what works best for me. Other than that, good little trouble free welder.

  • excellent machine

I bought this for my son to use for metal trussing and instead of climbing up and down the ladder to move a machine with this one he can carry it with him from truss to truss without coming down the ladder he says it is very lightweight and welds better than all other comparable machine on the job site

  • Fits my needs very well

I bought this to do repairs and fabrication for myself at home. It is well built and shipped fast. I saw there were multiple welders that were offered by Amico Power with very similar specs. I was able to call them directly and ask them about the different models and they gave me their feedback on the difference between the welders I was considering. I ended up going with this model. Once it arrived I went straight to work welding up some plate steel and angle iron to get a feel on how well it performs. I’m impressed and happy on how well it works. I was able to strike an arc and burn some 7018 smoothly with good penetration on 1/8” bar right out of the box. It feels sturdy and well constructed. It comes with good quality leads and I expect it to last and perform for years to come.
