This colorized version of the 1961 Corman cult comedy classic has a lot going for it, not least of which is the high quality of the colorization which is the best I have ever seen made from a restored version of the original B&W film (which is also included). If this DVD has any major flaws, it's the fact that the disc was made using the original 63 minute theatrical release and not the 75 minute television version that most fans are familiar with, so if you are waiting for the pre-credits scene where secret agent Sparks Moran meets up with his contact in a seedy bar or the one where the gangster and his gang have a heated gun battle with a boatload of Cuban rebels as his beautiful blond moll languidly sings the movie's theme song or even the surreally silly one with the telephone on the beach, well, you won't find them on this edition (there is also a lot less of the humorous narration which many feel is the best part of the experience). If you want the complete flick, keep an eye out for the Alpha Video release with the original poster artwork on the cover, although be warned that it is, of course, only available in black and white and that the print quality is nowhere as good as this version. Extras include colorized trailers for such other public domain films as "Night of the Living Dead", "House on Haunted Hill", and "Plan 9 from Outer Space".Read full review
