I got this as a supposed upgrade for the notoriously mediocre Marvell controller on my motherboard. After numerous failures while attempting to partition, I switched to the alternate channel, which at least worked properly. Unfortunately, this card was still significantly slower than the already slow onboard Marvell Controller. It's also worth noting that while it SAYS 6Gb/s, the maximum bandwidth of PCIE 2.0 x 1 is less than 4Gb/s, so it can't possibly support full SATA III speeds. Using my Samsung EVO 850 and this card, I was able to sustain SATA2-like 250 MB/s sequential reads, while the theoretical limit should be around 500 MB/s. For comparison the crappy Marvell controller gets around 400 MB/s with the same drive.
