I needed a condenser mic as I do all my producing, recording, mixing, and mastering at home, and the dynamic mic, lets me honest, it's not for professional recording, gotta get you a condenser. I was attracted to the CAD GXL2400 because the price i paid for it with shock mount, and even a mic stand was lovely. Now, the mic itself is very sensitive, as even with the pop filter about 4 inches in front of the mic, i still need to be almost another 4 to 6 inches back from the pop filter when recording or else the level in the vocals will sound not so good, kind of like I put a distortion effect on my voice, which is cool, but it's not cool to record with too much level in your vocals ever, won't sound good over the track. I will next step up to the 8000, or higher as I really want a vacuum tube condenser mic, but for now, the GXL2400 is wonderful. Another great thing about the mic is that it makes you sound better than you are, add's like an effect like you voice was digitalized inside a tank, if that makes sense, so the quality it records at is excellent. It's a great mic if you want to record independent music like me, as when you mix it down to a final copy and burn it to a disk, when ppl listen they would be shocked you achieved such high quality in your house, if that's where you use it anyway. If the GXL2400 is in your budget, it's a great starter condenser, really it is. Just don't forget to get that Phantom IIRead full review
The CAD GXL 2400 microphone is an imitation of a very popular high dollar capacitor microphone on the market. The specifications are very similar to the high dollar mic and the performance is identical except the CAD mic costs only around $100 each and that included the case for the mic, the boom stand, the spring wire basket holder, and a 20 foot cable with 3 pin XLR connectors on each end. This mic requires phantom power so I purchased a preamp with phantom power and it works GREAT!!Now realize that the sensitivity of the mic is -56dBM which is kinda low so you do have to use a good preamp but it needs the phantom power anyways. We are using it on a micropower FM broadcast station and it picks up so well you can hear a mouse fart at 20 yards like it was next to the mic!! Seriously, the pickup is really fantastic, the clarity is superb, I am so impressed with the quality of this mic for the price. You would expect to pay $1000.00 for a mic like this if it said Neumann on it.It says CAD on it and it works so well I wouldn't care if it said Saddam Huessan on itRead full review
The microphone was a great quality product at a very fair price. I was tired of using a small mic that i bought for $20 at wal mart. I have a small studio set up with drum machine, keyboard, and mixer with pre amps, and i knew it was time to step up to a better more professional mic. That is exactly what I bought. I would recomend this mic to anyone in the music scene that was just starting off and wanted high quality at an awsome price. Thanx
This microphone reproduces sound at a quality that is expected of microphones that cost several hundred dollars more. I have used CAD microphones for the last 2 years and am continually impressed by their products. If you are on a budget but are serious about recording and getting the best value for your dollar you cannot go wrong with CAD.
This is a fabulous mic. I get for all my voice acting students.
