This Radio Shack microphone, 3303038, was made by Shure. It does not need batteries. And it does not unhook into two pieces. Rather, the wire is permanently soldered in place. For a tour guide microphone, you want this simplicity and solidness. Imagine having a battery powered mic go dead on a $5,000 tour and you have no batteries.. While there are more expensive, exotic mics for sale, they come as detachable mount mics. And that becomes their weakness. This mic is cheap used, but at any price, i want that permanently attached wire. If the wire gets pulled out, you can solder it back. So, i bought several mics, all cheaply on Ebay, as quick replacements. For a singer, i would go with a more expensive Shure. But for PA speech, tour guide, and bounce around casual use, this is the one to get. It might not be available at Radio Shack any more. So get this workhorse bargain on Ebay.Read full review

I bought this microphone for use with a VocoPro portable PA system, for karaoke. It has a good sound and power. The cable length is generous. It was in my price range, and works well for my purposes.
