I purchased a Sony Dav-hdx265 surround sound system and 5 disc changer, probably in 2009 but I hadn't been using as of late. In March 2018 I replaced my older Sharp 46 inch lcd HDTV with a Sharp 60 inch 4k uhdtv and discovered my receiver was blown this buy a used one. I would have bought a sound bar or something but I still have my Sony speakers mounted in my home. This used receiver was the answer.

This unit if for our master bedroom so we don't need it to be overwhelming. What I like about it is the fact that it is a Sony and it has a lot of features that we like. The size, wattage, color and profile of the unit fits well within our room. It has a DVD player that my wife loves because she can watch movies and most of all do her exercises in our room. We also use it to watch TV(DirectTV) and the sound is very good. The bass is good even though the sub woofer is not powered. We have a dedicated theater room so this unit is not used in that regard but it will be used to watch movies and TV in our room. This is a solid unit (work horse)and perfect for our particular use that is why I will give this an excellent rating. The price was perfect and I feel that this unit performs better than it is priced. If you are a super audio person then you may want to look at the other higher end systems that Sony offers. Since this is a good product yet old technology, I believe this is the best way (buying a used one on eBay) to replace one which doesn’t work….I believe all products bought on eBay are in good condition, so that’s why I will advice to buy this kind of product and others new or refurbished electronics as well

The problem is that it's been very glitchy & doesn't play all dvds properly. It skips & freezes a lot, very frustrating. It does (so far) play a new dvd without issue but I'm sad It won't play my older dvds. I replaced my old deck (same model) because the picture and sound, especially, are great for the room it's in.
