My pocket pal.
This is a well balanced, good looking knife, with three distinctly useful blades. I like the way it feels in my pocket as I roll it round and round in my hand. A new interpretation of a time-honored tradition
More than 40 years ago, my grandfather gave me an Old Timer 8OT pocket knife. I carried it with me for many years, keeping the blades sharp and free of rust. It was a prized possession of the type that should be handed from one generation to the next. The Old Timer 8OTW carries on that tradition. Some would argue that there hasn't been a genuine Old Timer knife made since the parent company, Schrade, went out of business in 2004. While the brand has lived on under other owners, the knives are no longer made in the United States. Like so many other things, they are now made in China. It seems to be well made. As I can tell, the build quality of this knife is comparable to the one that I carried for so many years. This deluxe model has desert ironwood handles in place of the traditional sawcut delrin ones. They are quite comfortable in the hand and perhaps will take on a pleasant patina over time. The blades, now made of stainless steel, will not rust like the originals. Whether they will take and maintain an edge as well remains to be seen. It may not be an original Schrade Old Timer, but I still look forward to carrying it for years to come.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
