Sounds fine, but internal is better
The Barcus & Berry outsider sounds fine for a passive pickup, but has issues that you don't have with the internal unit. The cable is way too long for the guitar I wanted to install it on, and if you so much as breath on the cable it can be heard through the amp. Better to use the internal pickup if you have the option.
