Of course there are higher end and much more expensive studio subwoofers, but this does the job and really helps me hear and mix the low end. The connectivity and lo and hi cut filters are functional and well thought out. At this price point I recommend this sub. Yamaha makes good stuff.

This sub is a medium great sub. Works well and reliably. However, not very loud, the EQ is hard to get to and is pretty weak. I bought it to match the 7" Yamahas I currently had. I got this to add low end frequency representation missing from my pair of Yamaha HS5 monitors connected to my Yamaha Montage 8 synth workstation. The HS5 monitors are great by themselves if you don't need deep bass, but if you want the full range, this will do the trick very well, especially for a home studio.
