THIS ONES A KEEPER-!
I was fully expecting yet another low quality disappointing piece of equipment from China, but after receiving this chuck and evaluating it, I stand corrected and im very content with the accuracy and general quality and function. Its not a $100+ US made Jacobs, but it shouldn't be - what it is, is a very good chuck for the price and im very pleased, this is a great upgrade for the cheap chucks that come with budget benchtop drill presses, but should be great on any drill press with a JT33 taper. The run out is extremely low at the nose and it grips bits like a vise - a very accurate vise. If yours doesn't feel smooth right out of the box, spend a few minutes blowing out any production grit or dirt, oil it from top and bottom work it in and it will smooth right out - mine did and its great - im more than happy to spend a few minutes cleaning and oiling to get a chuck this good at this price point. I cant afford the big $$$ US made ball bearing chucks, and my low $ press doesn't warrant it anyway so this is the perfect upgrade. Great deal - with qualifications
The machining on this chuck is great. The pieces fit precisely and are far better looking than the original JT33 chuck that came with my budget drill press. My only complaint is that the manufacturer is apparently skimping on cleaning solvent and processes. If the value of your labor is relatively low, then you can afford the hour and a half I took to thoroughly flush and 'exercise' the manufacturing grit and metal shavings out of the mechanism - and to work oil back in. Before that the action was quite rough; now it is quite free. As a retired hobbyist, this is a good value. For a working shop environment - spend the $$ and buy a Jacobs ready to work out of the box.
