  • A good vocabulary-building tool

I almost gave this book a five, because it does have an excellent array of words that every educated person should know, and those words are defined in an easily-understood fashion. The only reason I left off a star is that it doesn't have an index. The book is divided into four sections with words listed alphabetically within each section. If I want to look up a particular word, I'll have to look for it, potentially, four times before I find it. If it had an index, I could turn right to the correct page and find it much more easily.
