Why buy anything else?
I don't think I would pay $1300 for a pair of binoculars which is what these retail for, but I was able to get them new for $695 on ebay which turned into an obscene bargain. These are amazingly lightweight, but solid and very comfortable in the hand. The focusing wheel is perfect - not too loose. Clear and sharp to the edges. My 8x42 really gathers in light and the image brightens incredibly. What looks like a gray blob in a tree becomes a Western Wood Pee-Wee. I now know what they mean about binos having "pop". Yes, they are now made in China rather than in Wisconsin. I bought these over other the European models primarily because of the lifetime no-fault warranty - I didn't want to have to ship them to Europe for repairs or be without them for any length of time. I would have paid $300-400 more than what I obtained these for and still would have been thrilled.
