I mainly use this dish heater to warm my feet & legs, by placing it down 3 feet away from my desk. It can only warm a small space area. This model does not have an oscillation feature, it just warms you up in one direction

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I wish it had a thermostat. When you turn it on, it stays on so if the room temperature warms up, it would be nice if this would shut or cycle to maintain temperature. Aside from that it generates a decent amount of heat considering its small ize & is perfect for a smaller area like an office or bedroom. We live in a temperate climate so this is great for the occasional cool evening. It draws 300 watts of power which is quite low compared to other small heaters. Also note that it is infrared which is designed to warms people & objects, but not the air space directly.

I got one of these to keep my feet warm while sitting at a workbench out in the garage. Fan-equipped heaters got the air warm, but the heat blew away instead of hanging around in the under-bench area. Other radiant heaters (the Optimus is in the 'radiant heater' class) were too big for a small space. This one proved the right size, but in the confined area under the bench it was still almost too much heat, being so up-close-and-personal. So, since the heating element was just a coil of nichrome wire, I put a 3-amp silicon rectifier diode in series with the the element and a switch across the diode. Now the heater is switchable between 150 watts and 300 watts. The lower setting is ideal for the workbench, and the full-power setting makes it great for bigger jobs.

Great for what it is ! One must understand that this is a light, it warms surfaces that the light hits. Range the light can reach (effectively) is about 12 feet.(closer you are, hotter it is) I put two of these in a room 12 x 12 ft, facing in opposite directions and the room was very comfortable. (takes time to get surfaces in room warmed up) Power use=300watt x 2= 600 watt. (Most space heaters have a low setting of 700 Watt)(But heat is only where the heater is !) Dont use around young Children, they might put combustible material against the heater. Problem,if light path is interupted then zero temp increase will exist past that area.
Point it at you and it will warm you up and take the chill off. Will not heat a room, not even a small room. That’s not a defect, it’s not it’s design. Warms the area directly in front of it. Great as a desk heater pointing at you.
