The sequel to a great nintendo game. It is as fun to play as 1942 and the graphics are better. There are a variety of changes, not all improvements, made to this game in the two years between release dates. You only get one life which seems like a bad thing but theyve replaced extra lives with an energy scale, which is a good idea but you use it for weapons too so it makes it a little to much thought into a rapid fire game(you die if you shoot too much) and you get continues which is nice. You can customize your plane in bonus rounds and in the begginning of the game to suit your preferences on planes, this is a cool and unexpected feature. Basically the gameplay is the same as 1942, i felt like i had a bit more room to move around and wasnt cramped as much in 1942, but it is still way better than sky sharks, another similar game for nes. Would i buy both 1942 and 1943? probably not again, but theyre both good and I dont have to make that decision.Read full review
I think of this game as one of the better shooters for NES. The graphics are great for 8 bit and the enemies keep coming. Shooting at massive destroyers and other kinds of boats is fun while you can use specials that send shock waves all over the screen that destroy just about everything. The only downside is that it's a 1 player game, 2 players would have been amazing. One noted perk is that you can decide which parts of your plane to upgrade after certain points in the game, for example, you can upgrade your weapons lvl, defense lvl, energy lvl, special weapons lvl, and the length of your special.
great game ,love it

This is a classic Nintendo game. I’m in my forties now and it takes me back to the good ole days to play my Nintendo. This is a fast passed game that has you develop skills to get to the next level. It will definitely get the adrenaline pumping. I would love to see a kid gamer with an Xbox give this game a try.

Im not much of a scrolling shoot em up fan, but ive played many; Gradius, Gyruss (tube type), Starship Hector, Gun-Nac, the last starfighter... u name it. Up to this day, it still remains my favorite!
This is a great game from an earlier time when things were simple. I love the game especially when played with a NES advantage joystick controller.
I used to rent this game all the time when I was a kid. Loved it. Still do! The best air warfare game I remember playing.
as far as nes games go this one is hard to beat. it is one of the best arcade like games out there and there is little of usual nonsense with nes games. fun for everyone. only one player though.
