These tools are needed for freewheels and loose-bearing bottom brackets, old school.
For older bikes with freewheels and loose-bearing bottom brackets these tools are necessary, it would be difficult to improvise any sort of a replacement for them and so if you need these then get these. Works great for the job intended.
This tool is for for use in maintenance on bicycles, but I needed a small pin spanner for disassembly and reassembly of a pedal drive for a kayak which share similarities. This tool was a vary affordable option for a specific purpose. The SPA-1 green tool has 2.9mm pins and were a perfect fit in the 3mm holes in the packing nut of the pedal drive.
