I've enjoyed the novels Baldacci writes, particularly when the characters have a history that he takes into subsequent stories. Total Control uses new characters, perhaps because it is not a government/political espionage theme. We're talking about the basic nature of man, here: the sin of Greed. And the desire for control of others. The action is well-written, and the relationships between characters runs the gamut from doubt and anger to trust and compassion. In every instance, Baldacci refrains from using offensive language or descriptions. While there are many moments of apparent despair, the heroine continues to escape death, her young daughter's safety always in her mind. It becomes clear that each character with a familt desires to protect them from the unknown assailants trying to eliminate all who could revail their secrets! This novel was the first of Baldacci's I read, that didn't have characters from a previous story, and I was pleasantly surpricsed to see how well Daavid developed them. The book was truly equal to his others, with unique twists and motives. Viva Balducci!Read full review

I love the fact that, just when one stressful event was cleared up, another one would appear, so that the book constantly kept you on edge. I learned from this book; information regarding pilots, airplanes, detective work and the Federal Reserve; also how police, FBI, detectives, lawyers work together. It also portrayed the high competition between corporations and each trying to get the upper edge.
very good
