The battery wouldn't charge. I expected that might happen. Replacement batteries are inexpensive. My surprise, though, was that I could not pair it with our base unit until I found special online instructions on how to Deregister the phone ( from FixYa online ). It hadn't occurred to me that the handset had been registered already to a different base and that had to be wiped in a way that didn't just involve disconnecting the power. But it was after all a very good handset operationally -- works well and sounds good.

Did not come with battery - yes the last picture shows no battery but should have been in description (not a big deal for me though since I had spares). The phone came registered to a base and had to be deregistered through a special code entry on the handset. Finally found the right instructions: For the Vtech cordless phones model DS6322-4 models in the handset press *331734# and the MENU button, the handset will be deregistered. You can then go through the normal registration process with the new base.
