I purchased this book because I had been suffering some liver inflammation as a result of medication. The doctor suggested my best strategy was to lose some weight. Essentially, the book can be described as a low-fat cookbook with specific emphasis on healthy foods for the liver. Overall, I find the diet sustainable, I have lost a few pounds and my liver seems to feel better. I like many of the recipes. My only complaint is that when this particular edition was put together, the page references in the opening material were not updated from an earlier edition, so some page numbers are incorrect. However, if you look around, you can find the info in the book. Despite that issue, this book seems a good tool for those looking for good liver health.
I purchased this book in a grasp of desperation, after suffering with gallstones for a month, after doing three gallbladder cleanses in a row. My liver was extremely swollen, to the point that I could hardly sit without being in pain. I don't have much faith in doctors or conventional medicine, and I don't want my gallbladder removed, which I am sure would be the first thing a medical proffesional would recommend. I found Dr. Sandra Cabot's website and just drank up the loads of information that was provided. I have purchased this book along with another book she has written called "Raw Juices can Save Your Life". I have seen miraculous improvements in my health and am happy to say my liver is feeling much better. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to help themselves to lose weight, balance hormones, thyroid dysfunction, liver disease / dysfunction, gall bladder problems, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and just general fogginess and illness.Read full review
Its old and uses the Canadian food guide. This would have been nice to know beforehand.
