The series premiere episodes of Jake and The Fatman don't disappoint. It's one of the better produced and written vintage television programs. Of course, JL and Jake (portrayed by William Conrad and Joe Penny)are exquisite good guys. The characters are well rounded and individual. Unlike some TV programs, all of the characters in this show are distinct. There are no overlapping personality quirks or throw-aways and no caricatures. If you're an Alan Campbell fan (Law & Order, the Broadway Tenors, Broadway), he has a regular role. You can also catch a quick view of Anne Francis (Honey West). Good show. The only drawback is that every episode hasn't been put on DVD yet. This should happen fairly soon, but you'll get antsy waiting for remaining seasons to come out. As of March 2011 you can get season one and season two. Season Two was filmed during the writer's strike so don't expect a full season. There are only 10 episodes in Season 2 while Season 1 has 22. If you want to watch the real sequence, watch Season 1, episode 2 before you watch Season 1, episode 1. Season 1, episode 2 is the 2 hour pilot to the show.Read full review

I liked this show back when it was on TV and I liked DVD just as much. The story lines didn't seem dated at all. I would definitely buy the next DVD in the series.
