An indispensable guide for anyone who loves to cook or just eat food. Beautiful color photographs. Provides great detailed information on foods that I grew up with, and many I've been curious about, or didn't even know of. This book has helped me to be more willing to try foods I've seen in the ethic grocery stores that I had no idea of what they were or tasted like, several of which I now buy and prepare on a regular basis. It has also taught me new things about foods I already ate that expanded my horizons in ways I never would have guessed.
I like both of these books. When I was a child my grand mother taught me to pick wild plants to cook. When I showed my children years later they wouldn't eat what they called weeds. There is of course much more to these books than that. I love them both.
