good so far
Haven't done any recording, but i really did not buy for that. Once i figured out that i needed to choose AV as a source on my tv and not composite, it plays good. Much better than a newer panasonic i had that either would not load or took several trys to get the dvd out. Description was misleading and costly.
When this was advertised as "Fully Tested" I assumed that meant that the loading door for DVDs operated by using the Open/Close button on the unit. It does not work. The door for loading DVDs will not open without a remote control. I have had to purchase a Remote Control unit just so I could play DVDs. This item was received as described. It needs a remote control, which I had, to access all of the features. The picture and sound quality is good. The unit does not have a coax output should one be needed by a purchaser. The case has some wear albeit okay for its age. In excellent condition upon arrival
A working VHS player was needed to continue playing a large inventory of VHS tapes. It was not easy finding a working VHS player. I found the price for this used Sony was excellent, since it also played DVD's, an unexpected bonus. In addition, it was possible to contact Sony online and download an operating document for this specific unit. When it arrived well packaged and in excellent condition I was able to use the operating document to attach the unit to a new Smart TV and found that a separately ordered remote and the unit worked perfectly. Easy to connect and operate.
The Dvd/Vcr quality is excellent. The machine is very light weight and the ventilation is such that another piece of equipment can be placed on top of it, depending on the weight. Strips all expectations.
Video equipment like this is more & more difficult to find, and finding dealer's stock is virtually impossible. Our machine was manufactured in 2009 and is so pristine that you must reasonably ask yourself if it was ever used at all. It is externally flawless and as clean and as dust free as new inside. Having said this, it functions as such and we could not be more pleased. We had hoped to find something functional at best, but this far exceeds our expectations that I felt I had to leave some feedback and give credit where credit is due. We needed to bring in the expertise of a friend with strong technical background to couple it onto our widescreen smart TV, but it is all and more than what we had hoped for. Great combo player!!!
I already have one of these machines, and have had it for many years now. I love the quality from Sony products, and this has it! I loved this player so much, I wanted/needed one just like it for another room. But, it's passe technology these days, and I don't think they make these anymore. I paid about $150.00 for my original player, and was able to find these at one store only, for about $450.00. Too much money!!! It's great and all, but not THAT great. But beside that, I love it.
