Very good replacement for a worn troublesome engine
The engine came clean and clearly low miles. Seller called and gave me a couple hints for a successful install I had not thought of. Engine came complete with intake, exhaust and oil pan that needed to be changed over from engine being replaced. The timing sprockets with crank and cam timing rings needed to be changed as they are different and would not provide ignition. Adjusted valves just because. Good clean engine
I got what I hoped for: a nice clean engine that slides right in and runs good from the first turn of the key. My only beef is some careless work by the scrappers pulling it: they damaged the engine harness in a couple places I had to fix. I was also bummed the power steering pump was not compatible without buying a new pressure hose and suction fitting. But the rest of it was plug-and-play and now my car is running better than when I first bought it. Runs perfect
Engine rans absolutely perfect and sounds extremely strong! Replaced the valve covers and the internals were so clean you could eat off them! I used this EJ253 to replace my EJ252, meaning I had to swap intake manifolds and the passenger side cam gear, and some sensors since the Japanese sensors may not work with the US spec engines.

EJ257 bare block review
The block came as advertised and was exactly what I expected. The only complaint I have is with the clean up done on the mating faces of the two halfs Someone used an air tool with either a wire brush or other fine abrasive pad to remove the old sealer. Good Motor! Not a drop-in situation. Helps to be mechanically inclined!
Good Motor so far! Super-fast shipping! 3 days! A lot of parts needed to be swapped in order for it to work in an American car. Most sensors needed swapped, as well as the water pump and coolant crossover pipe. I ended up using the JDM crossover pipe, because my original one was busted (threw a rod). It works but was a pain cause the wiring position is different and I had to find an upper radiator hose that would work with it. Hardest thing to swap was the PCV nipple. They are different, but you don't have to swap it. I did because the JDM hose attached was ruined, so I needed to use mine. But the short block is good. Compression was 180+ psi in all cylinders. I went ahead and put new timing kit, water pump, spark plugs, wires, and seals on this motor. Runs Good!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
