will loosen rust flakes and make cleaning rust off the metal easier. the zinc chromate coating left on the metal base after washing off/ rinsing off the product is just enough to deter rust from immediately forming at the metal to be painted, though, after some time rust will do develop once the metal is not immediately painted with POR 15 Rust Preventive paint. Once immediately painted with POR 15 paint, though, the metal prep seems to make the adhesion of the metal and POR 15 paint almost impossible to detach... that strengthens further with exposure to moisture.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
