I do not enjoy ALL of his guests, but most of them are funny and entertaining - silly even. Just wanted to laugh a little more and this helps to do just that. He will never be replaced and it's kind of sad to know that he and so many of his guests are now gone. BUT.... these videos are still good for a laugh. For older people, I think this would be a good set of videos to watch. Thanks for the laughs Johnny!

Had video tapes of the best of Johnny Carson for the same years. BUT threw out my VCR and also the tapes. Always wanted to replace the tapes because they were so funny so I bought this DVD box set. And the DVDs are NOT the same as the tapes I had. Some of the skits are the same but a lot were missing that I used to watch on the tapes. Never even watched the last DVD when he visits his home town cause just wanted to see all the funny skits that I remember from the tapes I used to watch. Also thought the skits on these DVDs were cut shorter than the same ones on the tapes. So overall--just found this box set not worthwhile and most definitely not as funny or as entertaining as my original tapes.. And would much prefer to spend more money to buy a DVD box set that is exactly like the old tapes.Read full review

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loved the Johnny Carson show and he really likes this DVD collection. We haven't watched all of it yet, but it shows excerpts of his show throughout the years. You see various guests, Johnny in his different comedic roles and even get a tour of the studio and Johnny's dressing room. I'm very glad I bought this. It's great for any fan of the show.
This DVD collection has some good footage, but don't be fooled by the selling phrase "over 7 hours of footage". The footage that shows the funniest highlights from past shows only comes to about 2 1/2 hours. On top of this footage they included the last two shows in their entirety, and a documentary on Johnny's life. Don't get me wrong, some of the footage is priceless; my wife and I laughed till our stomachs hurt. It's not a bad DVD, it is just that I expected more highlight footage. Highlights are broken down by decade: 60s-70s, 70s-80s, 80s-90s. I hoped each of those segments would be 2 hours each, but instead they were only 45 minutes each. This DVD has segments that are a must see, but don't pay $50-$60 for this DVD set. I'm glad I got it, but even happier I spent only $20, because that is all it's worth...Read full review
