This is one of the few great role playing games that was released in a version compatible with Macs. In this game you control a village and its military. In order to succeed you must develop a strategy that keeps your food, wood, and gold supply up to afford a growing army to defend successive waves of enemies. The setting of this game is Ancient Greece with you playing out versions of Greek mythology. Great games that requires strategy, but is not too hard for those who have not played a lot of role playing games. One thing that got me stuck at the beginning was it told me to right click, but I like most Mac users do not have a right clicker on the mouse. I finally figured out to right click you hold down the control key when you click. You can also find mouses with right clickers to use with the Mac for easier playing.Read full review
This is a great game for anyone with a G4 powermac or higher. Even some higher end G3's would work this game. Done with the Age of Empires engine, this game rocks. If you are into games like Age of empires II, or Rise of Nations where you control armies and try to build your armies to conquer the enemy with a great plot, then you will love this game. If you are into mythology from the 3 different cultures of Greece, Egypt, and the Norse as well as are also into the mythos of the Atlantians then again, you will love this game. Macsoft ported this game right. If you have a Powermac G4 500mhz or higher you should literally have no problem playing this game.
The classic real time strategy game that transports players to a time when heroes did battle with monsters of legend and the gods intervened in the affairs of mortals. Use mythological creatures like Minotaurs and Cyclopes to bolster your armies' strength. Call upon the gods for assistance in flattening enemy towns with meteors or scatter opposing troops with lightning storms.
I like the game and have two copies for the PC. I bought the Mac version so that my wife could join my daughter and I in a networked game. Unfortunately the Mac version uses a different networking method than the PC version and I didn't realize this until after I bought the game. I never thought Microsoft would be so short-sighted to not allow Mac and PC versions of the same game to play together. I won't be buying any more of the "Age of" series.
