MLB Slam! the first baseball game on N-Gage, features a lineup of 30 professional teams from the 2003 season in five modes of play: Quick Match, Spring Training, Full Season, Series, and Home Run Derby. The primary view is set from a catcher's perspective behind the batter as a cursor system is used to make contact. Once the ball is put into play, the view automatically switches to an overhead perspective where players can attempt to retrieve the ball. While on the mound, players can select a fastball, sinker, or curveball, position the ball over the plate, and determine velocity using a power meter. The longer the wind-up button is held, the faster the pitch. Players also have the option of creating their own squad of all-stars with the Dream Team feature, which gives them 45,000 dollars to spend on whichever players they desire. Games can be played against the computer or a friend, with the latter utilizing Bluetooth technology.
