Like the title states, this game is considered to be the pinnacle of the R-type series. Coming from one of the big-name shmup franchises, this game is solid. Great graphics, a multitude of ships and weapons options, good music/sound effects, this game is a must-have for shmup collectors. Like many others, I play this game in spurts from time to time unlocking ships here and there.

Great classic. Still fun to play after all these years. Solid graphics and playability that still stands up today in my opinion.
