This is a shooter with a lame story line, and graphics you would expect from a late 90's pc game... I couldn't resist the low price I paid (only $3.10) for a brand new PC game and put in a bid thinking that I wouldn't mind buying it at the unreal (no pun intended) price of $3.10. It arrived smelling like stale cigarette smoke, but was still sealed with a gooey tamper proof sticker. It was faster than most games to load, however it requires the cd-rom in order to play which is slightly annoying. The dialog seemed to last forever, and was super lame - there isn't very flow in the game itself, so I easily became bored after 10 minutes, which is pretty rare with a new game. I was expecting a little more for the story line, not to mention the actual gameplay. I would recommend buying a different game, there is a reason the Atari company went bankrupt, was chopped up and sold off, bailed out through a series of acquisitions - and are again facing potential bankruptcy in 2013. Unreal II was already outdated when it was released in 2003, and it reminds me of an ancient 286 IBM game that would have been noteworthy for cutting edge graphics at the time, but the game itself is pathetic. My kids informed me that the game is "boring and dorky", and they enjoy old games like 1942, donkey kong, etc. I have to say you would be better off spending your money on something else, even if it's $3.10!Read full review
Today is Thursday March 17, 2011AD. I have had the single mission game Unreal 2. I had just downloaded the Unreal 2 XMP demo at GameSpy. I thought it would be great to play Unreal 2 online, as I play Unreal Tournament online, against other players on the internet. I understand demos are not full versions. So, the unavailability of servers to play the demo version did not dissuade me from buying the full version that I am writing a review about here. This full version, including the multiplayer, online game and single mission game is very good, with one exception. No one maintains a server to play Unreal 2 XMP multiplayer online. I have played the single mission all the way trough 3 times. So, I am disappointed that I cannot play against/with others on the world wide web. I am hoping to start up my own server to play online for others who have this video game, too. It is a good pastime when I cannot think of anything important to do. I usually feel that I cannot think of anything else to do. It is better than sitting around doing nothing. I don't like watching television and movies. It takes me a year or more to watch a movie all the way through. I very mch enjoyed playing Unreal 2 single mission, though. I will probably play it a 4th time.Read full review
Better than the Xbox version, better than the original Unreal (by far) and better than half or more of the FPS games on the market. At least as far as Single Player goes. The Multiplayer, eh, not impressive. The graphics are the best I have seen in any game to date, with exception to Half-Life 2.
This is a good "linear" first person shooter with a sumwhat over done story line. The game play is somewhat dated
