Humongous Entertainment continues its kid-friendly sports series with a trip to the old ballpark in Backyard Baseball '09. Featuring real logos, team names, and stat tracking, Backyard Baseball '09 is designed to provide a fun simulation experience that is accessible to kids. With at least one pint-sized version of a real star from each Major League Baseball club, gamers can dive for a ground ball with Derek Jeter, smack a double to the gap with Albert Pujols, swipe second base with Alex Rodriguez, or hit a home run with Red Sox slugger David Ortiz. DS gamers have the added bonus of being able to use the touch screen to hit, pitch, field, and run with strokes of the stylus, or head online for some wireless multiplayer fun. Power-ups, auto play, and a Home Run Derby mini-game provide some spice for gamers, while enhanced hitting and fielding, and variable difficulty make the game easier for the youngest of players.
