Let me start by saying that I only paid about $14 for this game and I recommend that you also pay in this price range if you get this game. The create a boxer mode where you can upload your own face is pretty much the main (if not only) reason to get this game. It does very good models for the men but I've heard the women don't translate as well. Their moves are just the ones of the character whose body you use as your base (I think). It has a good atmosphere and cast of characters. The gameplay, unfortunately, is this game's downfall. It is basically a frantic push of the buttons type free-for-all with little to no skill needed. For a PS3 game, you would expect to be able to do more than just high and low punches but that's basically all you can do. There are "breaker" punches but these do little to break up the monotonous gameplay. There is a throw, parry, and block and that's basically all you can do on this game. Grant it, I may be hard on this game because I was expecting a PS3 version of "Ready to Rumble" (if you haven't played it for PS2, go get it!!!), but it really should be more than high punch, low punch. There is no directional punching where you can change the type of punch by pressing a direction and high-punch or low-punch. There are stun combos but they aren't as creative as "Ready to Rumble." I have only played the game for a little while but some of the things I said can be found on a lot of reviews across the Internet. I will say that this game can be fun in small spurts and the create-a-boxer option using yours or others faces is really welcomed and will help make the game replayable. Still, I say, just get it at a massive discount and you won't be disappointed. Just don't spend your last bit of money on it. You get what you pay for. It's nowhere near groundbreaking but can be a DECENT distraction. I also would like to say that I am not a negative person. It's hard to me to really lay into this game like I probably should but I paid ($14) for it and I don't it to seem like I wasted my money. I will say that of the games I have, it will most likely be the one I'm willing to part with. It's just not a great boxing/fighting game, so don't expect it to be.Read full review
It's been a while since anyone has came out with a boxing game and this came from the creator's of fight night rd 3. It's a little tricky but overall not too bad of a game. You can create your own player and how he/she looks, or you can use a picture of your own face and transform it onto your character. Even on easy the guys seem to be a little difficult to fight until you learn the different punching combos etc. I am a fan of boxing games, and I compare alot of the games I play nowadays to FIGHT NIGHT, this game was created by the makers of FIGHT NIGHT Rd 3, so not a bad fighting game at all. I am still waiting for a game to come out that was just like Mike Tyson's PUNCH OUT. That game had my attention when I was younger until the very end. Thanks for taking the time to read this review, and good luck playing.Read full review
Fun game.Easy controls to learn.Only played a little bit,but i enjoyed it .The game play was actually harder than expected, which is good.I enjoy a challenge .Each player has their own strength or skill. This game reminds me of older games like Punch-Out and Ring King that i loved so much when i was young .
