Small Talk by Donna Lynn Thomas If you buy only one quilt on miniature quilts, this is the one to buy. There are over 15 quilt patterns in this book. They are arranged in three sections according to the piecing technique covered in each section. The first 23 pages are very detailed directions on cutting and piecing (and pressing) for miniature quilts (well illustrated). The next 6 pages are pictures of miniature quilts: note that a couple of these quilts do not have patterns in this book. The patterns are VERY well written and illustrated. The best part about these patterns is that these quilts can easily be adapted into any color scheme by the quilter making them. And in addition to traditional quilt designs, there are patterns for: leaves, Santa, a patriotic house and a quilt entitled "Moonlight Regatta" (sailboats and a lighthouse under a moon). I had already been designing and making my one inch square (finished size!) quilt blocks when this book was published. I purchased the book and even made a couple of the quilts from this book. I particularly liked the tiny Irish Chain quilt. These patterns should be no problem for the intermediate quilter (or advanced beginner), but patience in miniature quilting is a must! It does come up on Ebay for sale on occasion. As I write this on Sept. 18th, 2010, there are 2 copies available for just under $7. For miniature lovers only! These are SMALL quilts! Happy quilting!Read full review
Originally bought a copy of this book at a garage sale. Have a friend who is also interested in small quilts, so I got this copy for her.
