I was suprised at how much content there is on this game. There are multiple types of single player and multi player game modes, as well as 55 cars to unlock in both modes. The graphics are pretty good for a non gran turismo racing game. The controls are simplified for a more "Kart" style approach, with attacks being launched forward or backwards with ease. There is no shifting in this game, which might turn some people off. Like the name of this game suggests, you will feel the speed at which you are traveling instead of feeling like you are plodding along like other recent racing games. The downsides to this game are the sometimes poor multiplayer servers and needing hosts. Just like older FPS games if the host leaves, you are booted back to the lobby or title screen. Another downside is that there is not a large community for this game yet.Read full review
This is a great racing game if you like games like MarioKart or the Twisted Metal series, but in a much more realistic and mature way. It's definitely weapons-based racing, but the weapons aren't as damaging to your position like in MarioKart where you can lose first place just cause of one red shell or someone zooming by you with a star. Almost all the weapons can be countered in some way, so you can play defensively or offensively depending on your position. Presentation is top notch, online mode has a decent amount of depth and there are tons of cars to unlock. A small problem with the online mode is that you can't choose what level of players you are racing against, so you might be just starting your online experience and racing with people who have achieved higher levels than you and have faster cars than you, which make it next to impossible to finish in the top 3. But you unlock cars rather quickly, so after a few painful hours you should have enough cars to hold your own. Still, the fact that you are interested enough in this game enough to read a review on it means you will probably not regret your purchase at all. I sure don't.Read full review
Everything about the racing aspect of the game is sound. Trucks and SUVs are good on dirt track and the street cars are good on pavement. There is a timing aspect of the game that is very important to master when trying to accumulate fans, and without fans you cant unlock cars. The online part of the game is great when playing with people in the lower levels but when you go up against say a dodge viper, you really have to hit the right weapons and time your attacks. If someone knows there way around the track and learns where the nitros are this cant mean trouble for the guy in second trying to throw everything but the kitchen sink at him. The mods you unllock are still a mystery to me but im sure in time i will figure it all out. I just beat the boss on the first level and unlocked the 4 bolt mod but i dont know how to apply it to my car. Unless it is for online play only i haven t figured it out. The other problem im having with the mods is how to customize them but again with sime more time with the game im sure the answers will come. All in all the game was worth the money i paid and im glad to have purchased it. I hope more people join the race and online play. The trophies are fun to unlock and the game has plenty for you to do on and off line. Fun Fun Fun if you are into the whole twisted metal on a race track scene.Read full review
I picked this game over split second because I'm more interested in the arcade gameplay compared to the sim type racing. If you were a fan of any of the Twisted Metal games, you'll enjoy this. Blur is similar to that but it also incorporates racing. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is new and fresh. I only have two complaints about this game. First, it's almost impossible to get a good drift. If you try to drift, the gameplay mechanics just slow you down completely and you'll end up losing precious time...or maybe I'm just a bad drifter? lol. Secondly, this game does NOT work online, at least on my PS3. It won't connect to the Blur servers. I had this same issue with the demo for a few days. I haven't played the full game online yet, although the demo did work online after two days. I've looked around online for answers and it seems like a lot of people are having this same issue. If you're getting this game purely for online play, I suggest you look elsewhere. I'm hoping the online play gets fixed soon because it is an enjoyable experience to crash and race with your friends online. Other than that, the single player is solid and will keep you occupied for a good while. Enjoy and good racing.Read full review
If you love racing, this game is for you. But, its not just racing, its powder slapping, in your face, racing with power-ups. So not only can you spank your competition, you can blow them off the track. The game play is similar to Wipeout, but the controls of Blur is more like Granturismo/Need4Speed. Not the clunky floating spaceship feel, but a real physics driving. The power-ups are awesome, and the mini-challenges within the racing, makes it more difficult. Great sound track and unbelievable graphhics. A must own game for your collection.
Awesome game! Had to buy it again! It is a classic! Wish PS4 had a new version of this and Motorstorm! Come on PS4

while trying to master driving skills and win a race it is sometimes difficult with attack after attack being put on you.going from first to deadright last after being hit downright sucks and will get you frustrated.the Destruction levels, where you have to shoot enemies to gain time and points, and the Checkpoint stages where you're racing against the clock. But I think it's telling that the best levels in the game's Career mode were the ones where you generally were tasked with a single goal like attacking or racing, rather than having to combine the two together as the standard race mode makes you do.if you are looking for a combot pick up and play racer try split second.
I have played better racing games but still a solid game for the money.

If you love realistic and/or smash 'em up games like Burnout or Motor Storm, but you also love kart racing like Mario Kart, then you will enjoy this gem because it fuses both styles together beautifully. Blur is deceptively excellent - it doesn't throw everything at you at once, so give it some time to let features open up.

The game got an average score with reviewers, but with me its become an instant favorite and an instant classic. The greatest fun is the online play, racing against up to 20 people all over the world, yeah its hard to climb to the top but once you do the rewards are sweet. Upgrades customizations and paint jobs are only some of the rewards for earning fans as you progress through the game. Hey its pretty frickin sweet to be frank. But my name isnt frank...
