I collect Anne McCaffrey's works. I consider her material potentially classic. She's an excellent and imaginative writer. I enjoy, over and over, everything she's written and have read her work since my twenties. Her work inspires my own writing, and influences my life style. I've been trying to find a copy of "The Death of Sleep" for quite some time,as my old copy was "borrowed" and never returned. I've found that Anne McCaffrey's work is prone to that. I was delighted to discover that it was available at this low price on e-Bay. I'll be replacing other Anne McCaffrey titles that have worn out or wandered off,as well as titles by other authors, now that I know I can find them here. As with all of Anne's work, there is a genuine quality about her characters, that readers can relate to. Her morality comes through, and it makes sense. Anne's characters act like and are motivated by reality, so that protagonists can be understood, or at least forgiven on some level, rather than demonized. Reading Anne is reading psychology on par with William Glasser ("Reality Theory.") Thank you. MaisryRead full review
I purchased this book to complete a triology. As usual Ms Mcaffrey spins an good story and stays just far enough from an explanation of the physics to move it along. Though not as engrossing as her dragon riders meene, it is a good read and as good as her crystal singer series.
The charactoers in her books seem like real people, who usually get caught up in some very nasty situations.
