In this gentle comedy, a young African American male (played by Wesley Johnson), who acts as a substitute pastor in a local community church, pursues a romance with a woman who has lost faith in her religion. The pastor tries to get the local community to accept some of his radical new methods while also attempting to win over the father of the woman he is rapidly falling in love with, leading to not only intense drama but plenty of comedy.
