Imagine a printer that you could easily lug around to parties, and let people print out memories on the spot from their Blu-tooth enabled phones. The device spits out a blank piece of photo paper, long ways, spins it 90%, then draws it back in, and a moment later it appears out the top. Then it moves in and out the printer like this 3 times, each time adding a layer of color to the paper and then a fourth time to put a protective coating, creating a memory that will last longer than you will probably live. The final product pops out the top and you created a lasting memory. Children and adults find it fascinating to watch the process create this beautiful image right in front of their eyes and it just might be the hit of the party. And, just try to destroy one of these prints. They are almost impossible to tear, they come out completely dry, and you can spill water or soda on it and just wipe it dry. That's a fact Jack. My recommendation is, don't, just don't. While in theory it's a fantastic idea, there are several imperfections. Not all the Selphy models support a battery, the ES1 does, but, the ES2 does not. Even after market batteries are about a hundred dollars. Blu-tooth is not built in. Canon sells a the separate USB dongle which I refuse to purchase because of the ridiculous price. But, you may not have a choice as I have tried 3 different, supposedly, compatibles and none have worked. The pictures on most modern cell cameras produce unbelievably ridiculous size files in the 5 plus megapixel range. The ES1 will not support anything above 4 megs. So, you would need to resize, or, set the camera to produce smaller file sizes. (I mean I produced fabulous 8x10 prints from 400k size files from an older digital camera.) Anyway, I have had to transfer my pictures to a computer/laptop first, then print using the USB to printer port cable. Or, put it on a USB flash drive, or, adapt other memory card (like SD) to the USB port. Really takes a lot of the fun out of it. Now, the printer software does not support newer Windows versions. Canon didn't bother to keep up with the ever changing Windows versions. But if you are talented enough, you can get the older software to work. Your best bet is to make sure all your pictures are on your phones micro SD Card, remove the card from the camera and place it in an appropriate USB adapter, which you plug into the USB port. Then, learn the steps to select your pics for printing from the menu through the provided screen. The prints are good enough, but I found that if you don't give the files a brightness boost before printing, they will all come out a bit darker than you would like. Note: The latest Selphy model, and I believe the only one Canon currently sells, supports wi-fi printing. Lastly, who prints pictures any more. You throw them on Facebook. Right?Read full review
