This series escaped my notice for twenty years, partly because I was assumed that a sitcom about priests could not be very funny. I was wrong. I watched the first two episodes on Amazon Prime and I was hooked. I wound up watching the full three seasons and immediately watched them again. Then I found this DVD set, long out of print, but quite worthy of collecting. Part of the fun of this set are the extras, plus the amusing insights in the commentaries. Highly recommended if you have a taste for humor that can be surreal at times, and always fun.

I came across this series by accident on the internet and started reading people's reviews. They were so positive that I thought to check out an episode on YouTube. Within 5 minutes my husband and I were hooked! We bought the entire series which contains 25 episodes. Love the Irish accents and preposterous stories. They are so very funny.

I have seen many episodes many times. I love British humor. I believe Americans must have a special gene to understand it. I honestly see something more with every viewing. I'm a good Catholic, and I believe deep down Father Ted is too! I love to laugh and Father Ted makes me laugh a lot.

Father Ted is probably one of the funniest sitcoms ever made. Father Ted Crilly(Dermot Morgan) a priest who was banished from mainland Ireland for keeping charity money in his own bank account and then living it up in Las Vegas.....although he has said that part was a misunderstanding. He lives with a dumb, innocent young priest, Dougal Maguire(Ardal O'Hanlon) and a drunken, vulgar retired priest, Father Jack(Frank Kelly). Ted is probably one of the very few on the island with any brain cells working full time. Craggy Island is purgatory but the island dwellers try to make it heaven with little success. Mrs. Doyle(Pauline McLynn), the housekeeper, is constantly trying to pour tea down everyone's gullet and will not take NO for an answer. This show is hysterically funny and absurd at the same time. I loved it!Read full review
Love the crazy antics. Impossible to not fall in love with the insane Father Jack. Some Catholics might be offended, some Catholics will resonate.
